Tension is building at the National Assembly this Tuesday as heavy security presence has been deployed to prevent suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, from gaining access to the Chamber.
A viral video making rounds on social media showed stern-looking security operatives stationed at key entrances of the Complex, in what many believe is a direct move to block the Kogi Central Lawmaker from resuming duties.

This development follows the vow by Senator Natasha to resume her legislative functions today, citing a recent court judgment she believes clears the path for her return despite still serving a six-month suspension imposed by the Senate.
Recall that the Senate slammed the suspension on her over what it described as “unparliamentary conduct,” a move that was widely criticized by her supporters and several civil society groups.
However, following a recent court ruling perceived by Natasha’s legal team as favourable, she announced plans to return to work, insisting the judgment invalidated the suspension.
But in a sharp reaction, the Senate insisted that the court did not give any direct order for her recall. The leadership maintained that the suspension stands, warning Natasha against attempting to resume without proper clearance.
With both sides refusing to back down, today’s heavy security presence suggests that the Senate is not willing to allow her back just yet. Observers are watching closely to see how the drama unfolds in what is shaping up to be another controversial moment in Nigeria’s legislative history.
