Emotions As Otti Makes Unexpected Visit To Army Base (Video)

Governor Alex Otti has stirred reactions online after making an unexpected stop at a military base along Ngwa Road in Aba during what was described as a routine inspection around the area.

According to details shared online, the Governor suddenly halted his convoy and walked into the military facility to personally interact with officers on duty and assess their condition.

On arriving at the base, Alex Otti reportedly greeted one of the soldiers on duty and asked about their welfare and working conditions.

“How are you? How is work going? Is the commander in?” the Governor reportedly asked.

The soldier then led him to meet the Commander of the base, identified as Captain T. Yabiteigha, who was said to be visibly surprised by the unannounced visit.

Addressing the officers, the Governor apologized for arriving without prior notice, explaining that he decided to stop by while passing through the area.

“Sorry we took you unawares. I was just passing and decided to check on you people. Are there any challenges we should know about?” he said.

While observing the environment, Governor Otti reportedly noted that the military facility required urgent renovation.

The soldiers later showed him some faulty operational vehicles and other poor working conditions affecting the base.

In response, the Governor immediately directed that the damaged vehicles should either be repaired or replaced without delay. He also reportedly ordered the renovation of the base, including the installation of solar-powered lights.

The visit later took an emotional turn when Captain Yabiteigha revealed that the Governor had previously helped him during a difficult period.

According to the officer, Alex Otti had paid his hospital bills last year and also supported the family of a deceased colleague who died during an attack by providing scholarships for the late officer’s children.

“Sir, you may not remember me, but last year you paid my hospital bills and supported the family of our colleague who died during an attack. You even gave scholarship to his children. I have been looking for a way to thank you for saving my life,” the officer reportedly said.
