Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has emerged unopposed as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Zaria Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The affirmation exercise was held simultaneously across the 13 electoral wards in the constituency on Saturday, with APC members endorsing Abbas as the party’s flagbearer.
Speaking shortly after the exercise, Abbas thanked party members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to continue delivering effective representation to the people of Zaria Federal Constituency.
He assured constituents that he would not disappoint them, declaring that his “best days” as their representative were still ahead.
The exercise, which began around 10 a.m., drew thousands of APC supporters across the constituency. At Kwarbai B Ward, the Speaker’s ward, the process was conducted peacefully under the supervision of APC officials.
The APC Returning Officer for the constituency, Dr. Hamisu Ibrahim Kubau, announced that 1,376 delegates across the 13 wards affirmed Abbas as the party’s candidate after he emerged as the sole aspirant cleared by the party.
Kubau said the exercise was peaceful and monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Chairman of the APC House of Representatives primary elections in Kaduna State, Yakubu Oseni, described Abbas as a leader loved by his people and expressed confidence that he would win the 2027 general election.
Abbas also urged constituents to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani and all APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
