The Troops have since the beginning of the year been engaged in terror fights with different threats in five active theatres of operations across the country.
North-East, North-West, North-Central, South-South and South-East have been the major centres of violent threats that have engaged the military since the beginning of this year.
Major General Edward Buba, the Director Defence Media Operations said Thursday while briefing reporters that the troops adopted a high level of alert and an increased state of readiness to protect the country from further terrorist aggression and insecurity.
“Talking about what the military has done since the beginning of this year in the fight against the terrorists, we’ve denied them any opportunity to escalate their activities,” Major General Edward Buba told reporters. “Troops aggression across the various theatres of operations since the beginning of the year culminated in 8,034 neutralized terrorists, 11,623 arrest and 6,376 rescued hostages.”
General Buba was deadpan when he roared that the terrorists would bear the consequences of escalating violence in the country. “The military is heightening and increasing state of security readiness to ensure it’s not escalated. The military is working to ensure the forthcoming Christmas holiday is celebrated and enjoyed in peace.”
