The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, PhD., GCON, has led a delegation of House leaders on condolence visits to top All Progressives Congress (APC) officials and the Governor of Kogi State, following the demise of their loved ones.
On Monday, Speaker Abbas, accompanied by principal officers and caucus leaders of the House, visited the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, whose mother, Madam Lydia Yilwatda, passed away in Jos on August 17.
The delegation also paid a condolence visit to the APC National Vice Chairman (North-West), Hon. Garba Datti Muhammad, who lost his son, Abdullahi Garba Datti, on August 22 in Kaduna after a brief illness.
During the visit, the Speaker conveyed the heartfelt sympathy of the House of Representatives, praying to Allah to grant the departed eternal rest and give the bereaved families strength to bear their loss.
Members of the delegation included Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu; Leader of the House, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere; former Deputy Speaker and North Central Caucus Leader, Rt. Hon. Idris Ahmed Wase; Chairman of the Northern Regional Caucus, Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa; as well as other lawmakers and senior aides of the Speaker.
Reaffirming the solidarity of the House, Speaker Abbas said the visits underscored the unity of purpose and shared humanity among leaders across party lines.
Earlier in the week, the Speaker also led a delegation to Kogi State to condole with Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo over the passing of his father, Alhaji Ahmed Momohsani Ododo, who died at the age of 83 on August 18. Speaker Abbas had earlier issued a condolence message but said it was important to personally extend the sympathies of the House.
