SDP Felicitates Former Education Minister, Prof. Tunde Adeniran, at 80

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has congratulated its former National Chairman and Nigeria’s former Minister of Education, Professor Tunde Adeniran, on his 80th birthday.

In a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Araba Rufus Aiyenigba, the Acting National Chairman of the SDP, Dr. Sadiq Umar Abubakar Gombe, on behalf of the National Working Committee and the entire SDP family nationwide, described Adeniran as a distinguished scholar, patriot, statesman, and exemplary leader.

The party hailed Prof. Adeniran’s record as an accomplished academic, prolific author, and respected public servant whose career has spanned academia, government, and diplomacy. He was pioneer Secretary and later Chairman of the Mass Mobilisation for Self-Reliance, Social Justice and Economic Recovery (MAMSER), former Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), pioneer Education Minister in the Fourth Republic, and Nigeria’s Ambassador to Germany.

The statement noted that Adeniran served in each of these positions with “trademark transparency, finesse, and an unyielding spirit of patriotism.” It also commended his leadership during his tenure as SDP National Chairman, describing him as an epitome of integrity who left behind inspiring and transformative legacies.

“The SDP proudly recommends the public life and cherished value system of Professor Tunde Adeniran, KWJ, OFR, as a case study for today’s politicians and public office holders,” the statement read.

The party further described him as an Omoluabi political figure, a conscience of the nation, and a voice of truth, wishing him long life, good health, and continued fulfilment.
