Nollywood Actor Jim Iyke Opens Up On Why Marriage Collapsed (Video)

Jim Iyke has spoken candidly about the emotional struggles that contributed to the collapse of his marriage, revealing that he lost himself emotionally and became completely consumed by fatherhood.

The Nollywood actor made the revelation during an interview with Chude Jideonwo, where he reflected on a difficult period in his personal life.

According to Jim Iyke, he gradually lost his spark and poured all his energy into raising his son, admitting that the emotional changes deeply affected his relationship with his wife.

“I lost my spark, and my wife suffered for it. And then I became an obsessive dad. I gave everything in me to my son. I was a proper stay-at-home dad,” he said.

The actor explained that while he became a devoted father, he struggled to remain emotionally present as a husband.

“I became an excellent father but a woeful husband,” he admitted.

Jim Iyke revealed that the situation eventually created distance in the marriage, as his wife no longer recognised the man she married.

According to him, he had an honest conversation with her about his emotional struggles and confessed that he did not know how long it would take him to heal and rediscover himself.

“After a while, she said, ‘I can’t find the man I married anymore.’ I told her, ‘I don’t know what it’d take for me to heal and bring myself back.’”

The actor said he gave her the freedom to either stay through the difficult period or walk away if she could no longer cope.

“If you want to wait for me, I’d appreciate it. And if you can’t, I would understand,” he recalled telling her.

According to him, his wife eventually decided she could not continue with the marriage, and both of them chose to part ways peacefully.

“She said she couldn’t, so we shook hands and parted as friends,” he added.
