NAUS Endorses Barr. Pelumi Olajengbesi for House of Reps, Hails His Legacy of Justice and Youth Empowerment

The National Association of University Students (NAUS) has thrown its full weight behind Barr. Pelumi Olajengbesi’s political aspiration to represent the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, describing him as a “fearless voice for justice and youth empowerment.”

In a statement signed by Deputy National President (National & Campus Affairs), Comrade Meshach Anthony Nwankwo, the association praised Barr. Olajengbesi as a founding father of NAUS and a lifelong advocate for Nigerian students, noting his activism dates back to his days as the Student Union President at the University of Abuja and later as Vice President of NAUS.

“Barr. Pelumi has consistently stood at the frontlines of activism, using his voice, platform, and resources to confront injustice and empower young people across the country,” the statement read.

Currently serving as Principal Partner at Law Corridor, Olajengbesi has led several high-profile human rights cases, provided pro bono legal support to marginalized groups, mentored emerging youth leaders, and championed employment opportunities for persons with disabilities.

NAUS described him as a “symbol of courage, integrity, and unwavering dedication to national development.”

Citing his outstanding contributions to justice and national development, the students’ body announced the activation of its grassroots structure in Oriade/Obokun to canvass support, conduct door-to-door voter education, and mobilize students in favor of Olajengbesi’s candidacy.

“We urge political party leaders, the state governor, and the good people of Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency to take notice of Pelumi Olajengbesi’s exceptional qualities and give him a trial. We assure you—he will not disappoint,” the statement added.

The campaign strategy, according to NAUS, will focus on sensitizing residents on the importance of obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and the value of electing credible, youth-focused leadership.

“Together, we can build a brighter future for our community,” NAUS declared. “Together, we can prove that humanity and compassion are still alive and well in Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency.”
