How Ex-Super Eagles Striker Collapsed, Died During Match

Former Super Eagles striker Michael Eneramo has died at the age of 40 after reportedly collapsing during a local football match in Kaduna State, shocking fans and the wider football community.

The incident is said to have occurred on Friday at a pitch in the Television area of Kaduna, where Eneramo was taking part in an ongoing game. Witnesses said he had come on as a second-half substitute before suddenly slumping to the ground without any collision or prior sign of distress.

According to accounts from the scene, efforts were immediately made to revive him, but they were unsuccessful. He was later rushed to a nearby hospital where he was confirmed dead.

Eneramo, who enjoyed a successful career both in Nigeria and abroad, previously played for Lobi Stars before securing a move to Tunisian side Espérance de Tunis, where he made a strong impact. He later spent several years in Turkey, turning out for clubs including SivassporBeşiktaşIstanbul BaşakşehirKarabükspor, and Manisaspor.

Beyond his playing career, he was reportedly involved in grassroots football development, managing an academy aimed at nurturing young talents.

News of his passing has triggered an outpouring of grief across the football community. The official Super Eagles social media handle also paid tribute, sharing his image with a short message: “Rest in peace, Michael.”
