Bill to Assure Adequate Funding for MPPP Scales Second Reading in Reps

The House of Representatives has passed on Second Reading a Bill for an Act to assure adequate funding for mineral resources exploration and partnership (MPPP) Bill 2023.

The proposed Bill seeks to transform Nigeria’s mining sector through enhanced funding, strategic public collaboration, and adherence to best international practices in mineral resources exploration and extraction.

During the debate, the sponsor of the Bill, Hon. Lanre Okunlola said the Bill aims to ensure that the country’s mining sector reaches its full potential loss, creating jobs, fostering economic growth, and strengthening the country’s self-sufficiency in the mining sector.

Okunlola and other Lawmakers emphasized the need to provide an essential legislative framework for the bill to enhance a prosperous and sustainable mining sector in Nigeria.
