A Bill seeking the establishment of National Institute for Oil Palm Research, Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State passed Second Reading in the House of Representatives.
The Lawmaker on Thursday debated the general principles of the Bill and passed it for Second Reading said the Bill will amongst other things provide the legal framework for the establishment of the Institute, day to day administration of the Institute, promote research studies in Oil Palm and related fields and stimulate national development through research.
The Bill sponsored by Hon. Folorusho Adegbesan proposes to establish the National Institute for Oil Palm Research will stimulate research and thus open up undiscovered areas in the agricultural sector.
Aside the above, the Bill will also provide employment for the unemployed graduates and youths of Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole.
