ADC Crisis: Amaechi Rejects Concocted Results

Former Minister of Transportation and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC)Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has rejected the outcome of the Party’s Presidential primaries, alleging widespread irregularities and voter disenfranchisement.

In a strongly worded statement released after the exercise, Amaechi described the results being announced from the primaries as “concocted” and insisted he would not recognize the outcome.

According to him, the process failed to meet the standards of fairness and transparency earlier promised by the Party.

Amaechi claimed that a large number of Party members across the country were prevented from voting during the exercise.

There’s no way that about eighty percent of members of the party were not allowed to vote, and you expect me to accept such results,” he stated.

The former Rivers State Governor said he had earlier made it clear that he would only accept the outcome of the primaries if the process was free, fair, and transparent.

He further accused the Party of engaging in the same practices it had previously condemned in Nigeria’s political system.

According to him, a political party that criticizes the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over allegations of vote buying, manipulation, and result writing should not be linked to similar accusations.

Amaechi argued that the ADC was created to offer Nigerians an alternative political platform capable of restoring credibility and giving ordinary citizens a stronger voice.

“The whole idea of the ADC was to give the Nigerian people a platform, to amplify the voices of the downtrodden, and make Nigeria a better place for everyone irrespective of backgrounds, ethnicity, or religion,” he said.

His rejection of the primaries is expected to deepen tensions within the Party as political alignments ahead of the 2027 Elections continue to intensify.
