The lawmaker representing Surulere II Federal Constituency of Lagos State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Lanre Okunlola has listed 19 legislative initiatives, over 80 inner-road projects, and several empowerment programmes among his achievements in three years.
Okunlola, in a performance report released by his office, said the interventions covered infrastructure, healthcare, education, youth and women empowerment, water supply, and support for vulnerable residents.
He said the 19 legislative initiatives focused on issues including healthcare, education, economic diversification, entrepreneurship, infrastructure, flood management, and public accountability.
Among the Bills sponsored by the lawmaker are proposals for the establishment of the Federal Medical Centre, Orile; Federal College of Education, Ijesha; National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Itire; and National Institute for Creative and Performing Arts, Itire.
Others include the Nigeria Climate Change Fund Bill, National Flood Insurance Bill, Nigerian Rural Health Care Trust Fund Bill, Agricultural Development and Modernisation Bill, and Ease of Doing Business Act Amendment Bill.
On infrastructure, Okunlola said more than 80 inner streets had been constructed or rehabilitated across Orile, Coker, Aguda, Itire, Ijesha, and Ikate.
He added that about 20 kilometres of inner and township roads were either completed or undergoing intervention in parts of Coker, Aguda, Itire, and Ijesha.
The lawmaker also disclosed plans to provide nine solar-powered boreholes across the six communities in the constituency.
According to him, the project is aimed at improving access to potable water in areas where residents face challenges with reliable public water supply.
He also listed the facilitation of a new transformer among his electricity-related constituency interventions.
In the health sector, Okunlola said his office had organised free medical outreaches, particularly for elderly residents and women.
He said the interventions were designed to improve access to basic healthcare services for residents, especially vulnerable members of the constituency.
He also highlighted skills acquisition and empowerment programmes for youths, women, artisans, and widows.
The beneficiaries, according to the report, were trained in areas including make-up, soap and cream production, bead making, costume making, and film production.
Some beneficiaries also received equipment and start-up support to enable them to establish or expand small businesses.
On education, the lawmaker said his office had provided 1,000 free JAMB application forms annually to prospective candidates in the constituency.
He also cited the construction of classroom blocks at Sanya Primary School and Aiyetoro Primary School, Aguda.
Other interventions included the distribution of rice palliatives and grants to traders, pensioners, and senior citizens.
Okunlola said his representation was focused on combining lawmaking and oversight with community engagement and the facilitation of development projects.
He urged residents of Surulere II to assess his performance based on projects and interventions delivered rather than promises.
“As the 2027 elections approach, I respectfully ask the people of Surulere II to judge me not by promises but by our record of performance,” he said.
He pledged to complete ongoing projects and expand interventions in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic empowerment.
