Nigeria’ll Change Global Perception Through World PR Experts – Abbas

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Abbas Tajudeen, says Nigeria will use the hosting of the Global Alliance–World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) 2026 to change negative perceptions and misconceptions about the country.

Abbas stated this when he received the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, Prof. Justin Green, in Abuja.

The WPRF 2026, scheduled for November, will bring public relations and communication experts from 126 countries to Nigeria.

Abbas described the hosting rights as a historic opportunity for Nigeria to tell its story and showcase its potential to the international community.

He said the event would provide an opportunity for participants who held negative perceptions about Nigeria to visit the country and see its development firsthand.

“This is a big opportunity, and I want to thank you very sincerely, Prof. Justin, for all the efforts you have been making over the past 11 years to make Africa part of the global picture.

“I assure you that Nigeria and Africa will not let you down,” the Speaker said.

Abbas commended the President and Chairman of Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr. Ike Neliaku, for his persistence in securing the hosting rights.

Earlier, Green commended the Speaker for what he described as inclusive legislation and governance under the 10th House, covering children, youths, women and other categories of Nigerians.

Green said he was confident that participants from the 126 countries would receive a memorable experience when they arrive in Abuja.

Neliaku said the WPRF had previously been hosted in Africa in 2007, but the 2026 edition would be the first time the global forum would be held alongside the African Public Relations Association (APRA) Conference.

He said Africa now had six members in the Global Alliance under Green’s leadership.

As part of activities surrounding the forum, Abbas is expected to deliver the keynote address at the Parliamentary Democracy Day and open a dedicated exhibition pavilion showcasing the legislative history of the National Assembly.
