The House of Representatives has directed National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to conduct thorough investigation into the Alaba Lane gas explosion to determine the root cause and prevent future occurrences.
The resolution followed the adoption of a motion of urgent public importance raised during plenary by Hon. Kalejaiye Adeboye, Member representing Ajeromi/Ifelodun Federal Constituency, Lagos State.
Raising the motion, Hon. Adeboye notes that the incident occurred due to a suspected gas leakage that ignited and led to a fire outbreak, damaging properties including commercial tricycles, luck-up stores and a portion of a bungalow building.
The House while adopting the motion without debating, it urged NEMA to support the effort of the Lagos State Government and move survivors to intensive unit and provide adequate medical care and support to the victims.
It further implore NEMA to provide financial support to the families of the victims and the rehabilitation of the lost property.
