The Northern Christian Religious Leaders Assembly (NOCRELA) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Second Sardauna of Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji, describing his passing as a great loss to the Sultanate of Sokoto and Nigeria.
In a condolence message addressed to the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Secretary-General of NOCRELA, Rev. Dr. Simon A.S. Dolly, said the late statesman would be remembered for his exemplary leadership, patriotism and commitment to peace, religious harmony and national development.
The Christian body, on behalf of its Chairman, Archbishop JohnPraise Daniel, and members nationwide, extended heartfelt condolences to the Sultan, the Sultanate Council, the bereaved family, the Government and people of Sokoto State, and all Nigerians mourning the loss.
NOCRELA noted that the late Second Sardauna dedicated his life to the service of humanity and left behind a legacy of humility, wisdom and selfless service that would continue to inspire future generations.
The organisation also reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace, mutual respect and national cohesion, saying it stood in solidarity with the Sultanate and the Muslim Ummah during the period of mourning.
It prayed for the repose of the late Sardauna’s soul and asked God to grant the Sultan, the Sultanate Council, his family and all those affected by the loss the strength and comfort to bear the bereavement.
