Amaechi’s Question On Tinubu Rocks Social Media

Former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, H.E. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has triggered a fresh political storm after mocking President Bola Tinubu’s expected second-term push with a biting question on his first term successes that quickly went viral online.

In a video shared by @yabaleftonline on X, Amaechi was heard saying: “What has Tinubu done successfully? I like what he is saying… he is saying that they should give him a second term, he will succeed.”

The remark, delivered with sarcasm, immediately struck a nerve across Nigeria’s heated political space, where Tinubu’s supporters have continued to defend his economic reforms while critics insist that ordinary citizens are yet to feel any meaningful relief.

Amaechi’s comment came against the backdrop of Tinubu’s repeated defence of his administration’s policies, including fuel subsidy removal, foreign exchange reforms and other measures the Government says are necessary to stabilize the economy.

MJConcept TV News reports that Tinubu has argued that his reforms are improving investor confidence and public finances, even as Nigerians continue to battle severe cost-of-living pressures.

But on social media, many users seized on Amaechi’s question as a summary of their own frustration.

One user, @kvngyemi95, wrote: “That is the point. What has he done exactly? Except insecurity, subsidy removal, high price, tax increase and borrowing. Is that what we are considering to give him second term… Let be sincere he has nothing to offer.”

Another user, @vickiedollarh0, captured the economic hardship in a personal way, saying: “Bro, I went from eating eggs to dried ponmo.”

@Oduwaprisie asked simply: “I want to know what he has done too?”

For @Austin_Duruaku, the answer came with sarcasm: “He changed the national anthem.”

Others were even more direct. @Uchegbu95907P wrote: “He has successfully borrowed loans,” while @ByteBloom1 declared: “He has done nothing.”

@WudiSnipper said: “The whole world knows that the president has failed terribly,” while @ArcConcept_Dz added: “Tinubu failed the elites and the poor citizens.”

However, not everyone joined the outright condemnation. @ybnl_guzman urged restraint, writing: “I think we should just be patient, he may have a plan.”

Another user, @WaversClub_CN, warned Nigerians not to be carried away by opposition politicians, saying: “They are all the same thing o believe at your own peril.”

That line of caution was also echoed by @rolandgavince, who accused Amaechi and other former APC leaders of helping to build the same political structure they now criticize.

Amaechi roasted Tinubu perfectly,” the user wrote, before adding that Nigerians should not forget the role of “recycled politicians” in the country’s current condition.

MJConcept TV News reports that the reactions on Amaechi’s puzzle on Tinubu’s successes underline the political danger facing the administration as the 2027 race gradually gathers momentum. While the presidency and APC loyalists point to fiscal recovery, infrastructure projects, improved investor confidence and reforms they describe as painful but necessary, many Nigerians remain focused on food prices, transport costs, insecurity, taxes and the falling purchasing power of ordinary households.

Amaechi’s question has therefore become more than a political jab. It has become a rallying phrase for critics asking whether the Tinubu Government can translate its reform language into visible relief before the next election.

For now, the former Minister’s sarcasm has achieved one thing: it has forced Tinubu’s supporters and opponents back to the same uncomfortable question — what exactly has this Government done successfully?
