A Nigerian man residing in the United Kingdom (UK) has reportedly deported his wife back to Nigeria after enduring months of alleged emotional and physical abuse, sparking widespread conversation on social media about marriage, migration, and domestic conflict.
The man, who works as a caregiver in the UK, had travelled to Nigeria to marry his wife through both traditional and legal processes. However, tensions allegedly flared shortly after she joined him abroad.
According to sources familiar with the situation, the woman began mocking her husband’s job, referring to his caregiving role as “dirty work,” and allegedly threatened to involve the police over minor disputes.
The situation reportedly worsened when the wife, who was not employed and did not contribute financially, allegedly began physically assaulting her husband. Despite his efforts to resolve matters through her family, no substantial change followed. Left with limited options, the man filed for divorce, removed her from his Certificate of Sponsorship (COS), and notified relevant UK immigration authorities.
The woman was eventually deported and is now said to be pleading for reconciliation—a request the ex-husband has reportedly declined.
The case ignited a wave of public commentary online, with many users—particularly Nigerian men—praising the husband’s actions.
@THE_CRAFT3R said, the man did well and I am proud of him. Married people have their issues, but when it starts becoming physically abusive…, RUN. Before somebody chook you knife for throat come dey tell your family say it’s the devil’s handwork.
@Jerale9 wrote, all diz won’t happen again. No more divorce or reporting anymore. You try rubbish, both of you are gone.
@Ilychapo mocked the man’s decision: the man na ozuor, you leave countless sensible single women from all corners of the world wey dey UK go import almajiri wey won take your soul.
@Nithsmit said, I don’t know why Nigerian women are like that. I’ve friends who decided never to bring their wives abroad. The day my brother brought his wife abroad was the day their marriage ended.
@greatnwanneo laughed, she can now be free to apply for her own visa back to UK. She is an ungrateful LAPO.
@kingMophasa1 said, she won’t believe it until she land for naija and she dey hear Oshodi, Mile 2, Koko… then reality will set in.
@ukwede7485 shared a similar story: I know a girl who is not up to 27 and she’s been sent out of her second marriage. She always starts fights. One day she picked up a knife…
@dontunji007 suggested, maybe I will just tell my friend to deport his wife too. Nigeria women should take a chill pill abeg.
@Drealkasanova said, black women are just crazy abroad. They think everything is solved by calling the cops.
@OyinAtiBode advised, wise guy! Now go to France and look for a wife. Don’t go to Africa and don’t search locally in the UK.
@That_Werey_Boi joked, by the time herdsmen, bandits or kidnappers get in touch with her, she go get sense by force by fire.
@sooj_slim said, imagine paying hugely to get your wife here and she starts messing up.
@Engr1257724 praised the husband: you did well brotherhood is super proud of you.
@BadmanJb216 added, na always devil handwork. Devil sit down jeje.
@MannyMcdon questioned, why bring a woman from Nigeria when UK has many women from different races?
@The_Yaji calculated the cost: after visa fee, flight money, TB test, NHS fee, passport fee, logistics, bride price, wedding ceremony bills… hmm.
@ElShawa2 concluded, may God bless you my dear for saying the truth… I’m sure most ladies can’t say the truth as you did.
