Akpabio Intervenes As Nigerians Mock Senator Who Wants Poor Abuja Villagers Relocated (Video)

Senator Godswill Akpabio shone like a star on Tuesday after he led the Senate to interrupt the move by Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District to displace poor villagers living in the areas around the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

Senator Nwebonyi had brought forward a motion for the poor people in the area to be relocated from their villages on the claim that the villages were an eyesore during descent into the Federal Capital.

According to him the villages should be replaced with skyscrapers to give the kind of impression of a prosperous Nigeria.

Reminded by Senator Akpabio that the lands belonged to people, the Ebonyi senator who has for long courted controversy stood his ground insisting that the image the villages presented did not fit the impressive décor that the administration was making of the Federal Capital.

His motion was supported by a few senators but quickly shot down by the majority of Senators who castigated Nwebonyi for chasing shadows when his constituents were under constant attack of herdsmen and such.
