Human rights activist and Convener of #RevolutionNow Movement, Omoyele Sowore, has condemned the arrest of an activist and nurse, Abiodun Olamide Thomas, by the Nigerian Police on the orders of the Force Police Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, for criticizing the excesses of the operatives on social media.
MJConcept TV News reported earlier that Abiodun had been arrested in Lagos State at the early hours of Friday.
On November 8, MJConcept TV News reported how Comrade Abiodun Olamide Thomas, also known as Horlarmidey Africano, raised the alarm about her safety, alleging that ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Police Public Relations Officer, was targeting her for only criticising the police brutality and other excesses of some personnel of the Force.
Reacting to her arrest, Sowore, a former Nigerian Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), described as unacceptable the arrest of the nurse on direct instruction of FPPRO Adejobi for her posts against Police excesses in a WhatsApp group and on Facebook.
Sowore, who took to his X account to voice his rejection of the repression on dissent voices, demanded her immediate and unconditional release, warning that such Police repression would be resisted.
He wrote: “The PPRO of @PoliceNG Muyiwa Adejobi @Princemoye1 personally ordered the arrest of Olamide for her posts against Police excesses in a Whatsapp group and on @facebook; this is completely unacceptable and will be resisted. The @PoliceNG must release her immediately.”

Abiodun had earlier told MJConcept TV News that she hadn’t committed any crime, other than participating in the #EndSars memorial struggle held on October 20, 2024, during which she was brutalised, her money stolen in the Police custody and phone destroyed.
She revealed that Adejobi had told so many people that she had case to answer, claiming that she had been bullying many Nigerians including himself on social media and therefore she should turn herself to police or she will be picked up.
Meanwhile she said no Police official invitation had been extended to her for committing any crime, wondering whether the Force Police Public Relations Officer wants to use his Police position and brute force to abduct her, to show that he can.
Speaking with MJConcept TV News, Abiodun had revealed that so many police officers have been calling and asking her to meet them in some locations, probably to abduct her for Adejobi.
Some of the Policemen have even gone to her social media platforms to bully her.
